Vanilla planifolia (Classic), known for its depth and warmth, and Vanilla tahitensis (Pacific), prized for its floral, aromatic character, both thrive under stable equatorial conditions.
On Manus Island, vanilla grows in fertile volcanic soil, under steady heat and rainfall year-round. This allows for slow, even maturation, giving flavor time to fully develop.
